Privacy policy

What personal data we process when you visit tencil.dev or use the open-source Tencil software, and why. In short: the website sets no cookies and counts visits without knowing who you are, and the software runs on your machine and sends nothing to us.

Coming soon: Tencil Cloud. Tencil Cloud, a hosted service at cloud.tencil.dev, is on its way. Using it will take an account and access to your code, so before it opens we’ll add what it processes to this policy, and its terms to our terms of use. Until then, both cover only tencil.dev and the Tencil software.

Who we are

Tencil is a trade name of Pixel Perfect (Pixel Perfect Agency B.V.), Watertoren 51a, 3247 CL Dirksland, the Netherlands, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 89660374, VAT number NL865059937B01. You can reach us at [email protected], or Pixel Perfect itself at [email protected].

We are the controller for the personal data described here. This policy covers tencil.dev and the Tencil software, and will cover Tencil Cloud once it opens.

The website

tencil.dev is a static website. It has no accounts and no forms and sets no cookies. The only script it loads from elsewhere is our analytics, described below.

Like every website, our server receives what your browser sends with each request: your IP address, the page you ask for, the time, your browser’s user agent and the page you came from. The server keeps these in its access logs for 14 days, so we can keep the site running and secure, and then deletes them. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in a website that works and is not abused (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The site runs on a server of DigitalOcean in Frankfurt, Germany, and Cloudflare handles its domain and network traffic. They process this data on our behalf and only on our instructions.

To see which pages people read and where they come from, the site uses Eyes, a cookieless analytics service. For each page you view, and each link to another website you follow, it records the page’s address, the website you came from (only when it’s another website), your time zone and your browser’s language. To tell one visit from the next, it keeps a random visit id in your browser’s session storage, which your browser deletes when you close the tab. It sets no cookies, doesn’t follow you across websites, and gives us no way to tell who you are. Eyes receives your IP address with each request, as every server does, but only uses it to look up your country, and doesn’t store it. It stores the rest, with your country, on DigitalOcean servers in Frankfurt, Germany for an unlimited time. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used, so we can improve it (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can block it with any content blocker without losing anything on the site.

The site links to other websites, such as GitHub, npm, T3 Code and Claude Code. Once you follow a link, that website’s own privacy policy applies.

The Tencil software

Tencil runs on your computer. There is no Tencil account and no Tencil server, and the software sends nothing to us: no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reports. The source code is public, so you can check this yourself.

What Tencil does talk to:

  • Your coding agent. The daemon hands your prompt, the element you picked (its component, source file and markup) and any screenshot you attach to the agent you chose, T3 Code or Claude Code, on the same machine. That agent sends them to its model provider, as it does without Tencil. Its terms and privacy policy apply to that, not ours.
  • T3 Code, when you pair. Pairing exchanges the link you copied from T3 Code for a token, with the T3 Code environment that link points to.
  • The npm registry. You install Tencil from npm, and the command line tool asks npm for the latest version, so it can tell you when there’s a newer one. npm sees your IP address, as it does for any package you install.

Tencil keeps its settings and your threads on your own machine. We can’t see them, and you can delete them at any time.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us for access to the personal data we hold about you, and to correct, delete, restrict or transfer it, or object to how we use it. Since we only hold access logs for a short time, and our analytics can’t tell who you are, there will rarely be anything to find, but we’ll always check. Write to us at the address under “Who we are”.

If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority where you live.

Changes

When we change this policy, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters to you, such as new data we process, we’ll say so here before it applies.
